Congratulations — you've been accepted into the RealityShow.com program. Your first call is coming up. Here's how to prepare and what we're going to talk about.
Sit facing a window or lamp. The light should hit YOUR face. Avoid having a bright window behind you. A clean, simple background works best.
Optional but recommended. Grab an extra phone or ask a friend to film you from a second angle during the call. Prop it about 3-4 feet away at eye level. We may use clips as content for your show (with your permission).
A simple ring light makes a huge difference. Grab one at Walmart or Amazon for under $25. Put it right behind your screen so the light hits your face evenly.
Open your camera app and check that you look and sound good. AirPods or a headset mic helps your audio sound clean. A $30-$50 external USB webcam is a big upgrade if your laptop camera is low quality.
Scroll through and look at what we're going to cover. You don't need to write essays — just think about your answers. Short, honest, real answers are what we're looking for.
You'll be talking for about an hour. Solid-colored shirts look best on camera — avoid thin stripes or busy patterns.
Don't perform. The whole point of your show is YOUR real personality. Relax, be natural, have fun with it.
When you're making a point, look at the camera lens — not the screen. It creates eye contact for whoever watches later.
Talk with your hands like you normally would. It makes you more engaging on camera. Make sure they're in frame.
A bright window behind you turns your face dark. Face the window instead, or move to a different spot.
